1 Boiled rice or lime immaterial, but we shall eat rice only

Thank U friend.  I do not believe in the existence of spirit.  The feeling of 'I', 'My' are born out of sanga (attachment) with the body.  The idea of 'sAkshIbhUtam' (we witness what we do, thinking that this body is not 'I', has been espoused by St. Thyagaraja in his kIrtana 'manasu svAdhInamain' in rAga SankarAbharaNam,  which you can have a look at in any Carnatic music book or any Carnatic music site.  This is simpler than kapila's SAnkhya philosophy which is more enamoured with numbers such as  panca bhUtams, pancha tanmAtras, mano buddhyahankAra cittams, most of which represent metaphysical imaginations.

Whether we like it or not, the truth remains, that we are the body, and we are bound to take care of it giving food, bath, titillations and so on.  At the same-time, tintinnabulations should ring within us continuously to remind us that we as a body are nearly-non-existent when viewed in a time frame of infinity.  This simultaneous duality of existence and  non-existence Adi Shankara recognised when he used the concept mithya, and the caution of 'gajam mithya, palAyanam mithya'.     Einstein's Theory of Time and Space will help, read with  Darwin's theory of Organic Evolution in understanding our role in this monstrasity called nature.

In Telugu a word is popular called 'meTTa vEdAntam' or 'miTTa vEdAntam' used derogatively to the philosophical concepts discussed by some jignAsus who were just not satisfied to be as 'bhaktas'.  There is in fact thousands of kms. distance between bhakta philosophers and gnAna philosophers.  But both bhakta philosophers and gnAna philosophers accept on one thing: 'annamaite nEmirA sunnamaite nEmirA? annamE tindAmurA!'  approx.=  annam is food. sunnam is calcium oxide/hydroxide used to white wash walls and also used in betel-pans.   The words annam and sunnam are used for rhyming, else not much relevant to one another.  Now both the philosophers will say, it will be immaterial whether it is annam or sunnam, we shall be indifferent to both.  But we shall eat annam only.   These both bhakti and gnAna philosophers were worldly wise persons, hence they know that annam is real and sunnam is unreal.
